NEW MASSES NIGHTS

NEW MASSES NIGHTS began life as a monthly NYC performance series at Henry Winston Unity Hall in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. Currently, New Masses Nights is intermittently presenting shows in a variety of sites in NYC and beyond. Each edition features the unique heritage of liberation arts rooted in the struggle for progressive change. A revolution in jazz, word and song. This series is inspired by the cultural/political magazine of the 1920s-40s, "New Masses” which published such legendary writers and artists as Langston Hughes, Ernest Hemingway, Mike Gold, Dorothy Parker, Eugene O'Neill, Art Young, William Gropper, Dorothy Day, Upton Sinclair, Hugo Gellert, Kenneth Fearing, Em Jo Bash and John Dos Passos.
